Skipping 101: A Boxing Beginner's Guide to Skipping

Begin building skipping into your training programme with this beginners guide to how to skip effectively by cruiserweight prospect, Roman Fury.

Skipping is a vital part of a boxer's training programme, given the impact it has on improving footwork and coordination, as well as the cardiovascular benefits it carries too.

We caught up with cruiserweight prospect, Roman Fury, to cover the basics of skipping for beginners.

SESSION TIME
10 to 30 minutes, depending on your fitness level, goals, and overall workout plan.
METHOD
Bouncing on the balls of your feet, don't jump too high. The technique is all in the wrist, so don't swing your arms.
EQUIPMENT
A skipping rope.
DIFFICULTY
Easy to medium, depending on your experience
ATHLETE'S ADVICE
Getting into a rhythm is key. Skipping to music can help with sticking and maintaining the motion to a beat.
