Former Marine and current fastest single-legged amputee on the planet, Andy Grant, is in the midst for the Marathon Des Sables; a 6-day ultramarathon set in the Moroccan dunes of the Sahara Desert.
His training for this involves pushing his body to go further more frequently, so consistent training is key. When it comes to recovery, Andy swears by these three tactics to not only make sure he's physically at his best, but also has the confidence mentally that he's done everything he can to achieve his goals...
COMPRESSION WEAR |
Compression gear is key for me. Even before taking on challenges I would walk around the house in compression gear after a run, or going to the gym. |
SLEEP |
Sleep is also massively important. Making sure I get 8-9 hours of sleep every night gives my body enough time to recover from a day of training. |
NUTRITION |
The third thing is making sure I’m taking care of my nutrition. It allows to me be well-fuelled for training but also means I’m able to recover efficiently and increase my fitness. |
