Liam Davies vs Shabaz Masoud: Preparing for a world title fight

iGD Sport athlete, IBO super-bantamweight champion, Liam Davies, caught up with us ahead of his showdown with Shabaz Masoud to talk about his fight camp in the build-up to a world title fight...

How has fight camp been going?

"It's been very tough, but I know you got to put the hard work in to get the reward. So I've enjoyed it. Probably my longest camp, but been in phenomenal shape and ready to go. "

How does your training vary throughout fight camp?

"It's continuous the same, really. Hard work, hard work, eat, sleep, train, repeat. That's how it seems to go.

"I've learned over time through my career, what works and where my performance has come best. So I try and stick to the plan."

What's the most important for you in the final week of camp?

"It's making sure you keep on plan with the nutrition as it's the most important week in the camp, I'd say, near the end. So the training comes down and the food's got to be right.

"Making weight makes a big impact on your performance. So I make sure I stick to the plan and always count down the days to get on them scales."

How are you feeling one week out from the fight?

"I'm feeling amazing.

"Everyone's said this is the best camp I've had, but the best way I can explain is I'm feeling like a champion and ready to go."
